First set of estimates under Ludhiana smart city project to be ready till Sep 15

In a meeting held on Monday with consultants from the smart city project, MC chief, Ghanshyam Thori who is also interim CEO of the project asked the consultant company to come up with estimates of various projects till Sep 15. The authorities are also planning a 12 lane road from Jagraon bridge to Sherpur Chowk.

The project also includes beautification of Sarabha Nagar main market and under-grounding of wires in the market area. Further estimate has also been asked for multi level parking in Feroze Gandhi market area. The shopkeeper also demanded construction of parking lot for long time as the market faces a lot of problems due to lack of proper parking facility.

Further, Thori said they are also planing 12 laning of road from Jagraon bridge to Sherpur Chowk and there could be a separate lane for cyclists at the road. Further he said that the part of road will also be included in the smart city proposal for the city. Further, the consultants have also been asked to make estimates for ROB/RUB at the Pakhowal road railway crossing and at railway crossing near Dana Mandi.

Further discussion over solid waste management and installation of static compactors were also made and the consultants have also been asked to give suggestions for the betterment of city under smart city project. Meanwhile, Thori has also written to the authorities of Punjab Municipal Infrastructure Development Company (PMIDC) regarding delegation of financial powers up to 7 crores to the CEO and also chief engineers may be given full powers for technical vetting of all the estimates till the time general manager (Technical) is not engaged.
