There is a frozen ice road in Canada named Tuktoyaktuk Winter Road which comprises parts of the Arctic Ocean and Mackenzie Delta, which freeze during the winters. It connects the Northwest Territories communities of Inuvik and Tuktoyaktuk in Canada. This is the last year it shall remain open, as an all-weather highway between Inuvik and Tuktoyaktuk is estimated to be completed by fall 2017.
During summer the road melts and forms a flowing river. During this season the village of Tuktoyaktuk can be reached only by plane or boat. It is also one of the dangerous roads in Canada.
The ice road is 177 km long and it was featured in the reality television series Ice Road Truckers in 2008. There are times when you feel like you are driving on glassy marble. It has a well-deserved reputation for being dangerous because of unpredictable snowstorms and blizzards. In Inuvik, daytime highs are between -7°C and -17°C, dipping at night.
