“Doing up my home tastefully is of utmost importance as this creates a huge impression on clients and also gives them confidence in my designs. Anyone who walks into my home gets a clear picture of my design style,” says Mana Shetty, while speaking about her personal villa in Khandala, near Mumbai. Mana is the wife of Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty; and she is the owner of R House, lifestyle store in Mumbai.
This home is part of a gated community called Discovery, comprising 21 premium villas. The project is developed by Suniel’s company S2 Realty & Developers Pvt. Ltd. and one of the villas belongs to the glamorous couple. The contemporary villa has been designed by close friend and prominent
Architect Alan Abraham, while the interiors are styled by Mana with furniture and accessories sourced from her store.
The spacious home, which is spread across 6,200 sq. ft., features a private garden and swimming pool. Besides, it has a double-height living room, five bedrooms with attached bathrooms and a well-appointed media room. The highlight of the villa is the dining room suspended over the private pool. This design feature along with the open floor plan of the living-dining-swimming pool-deck area lends an expansive ambience and gives the villa an island-like feel. Other spaces include staff room, kitchen and a powder room.
The architect has incorporated a slanted tiled rooftop into the design, which provides excellent ventilation and lends a rustic charm to the space. Inside the villa, the living room features wooden rafters, a tall glass façade and partly sliding windows on either side. Again to complement the greenery of the surroundings, the architect has used amber colour mathios bricks from Greece in the living room. This brick wall continues from the living room to the spacious private wooden deck. To complete the look, sandstone flooring has been chosen for the entire villa, lending both an earthy appeal and matte finish.
